About Judith Fischer

Psychotherapist • Dance-Movement Therapist • Educator • Consultant • Coach • Trainer

My work integrates psychology, Dance Movement Therapy, Internal Family Systems, neuroscience, and creativity theory.

For more than four decades I have worked alongside individuals, communities, and mental health professionals to support healing, learning, and transformation.

Professional Background

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Southern Illinois University and a Master's Degree in Dance Therapy from Goddard College. I later completed additional training as a personal and executive coach through MentorCoach, accredited by the International Coach Federation.

I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 Internal Family Systems trainings, integrating this model with my long-standing work as a psychotherapist, counselor, and coach.

I am board certified as both a dance movement therapist and a counseling professional.

My earlier work included serving as a therapist in Northwestern University’s outpatient day hospital and at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Later I became Director of the Dance Therapy Department at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., and an Adjunct Professor and Internship Supervisor in Goucher College’s Graduate Program in Dance Therapy.

For more than forty years I have provided graduate-level training for mental health professionals in national and international settings while maintaining a private practice serving individuals and organizations.

My Approach & Values

  • Every person has an innate core Self that is wise, compassionate, and capable of healing.

  • The body is a powerful source of information and transformation.

  • Healing happens within respectful, collaborative relationships.

  • Movement, creativity, and awareness allow new patterns to emerge.

  • Therapy should honor both scientific understanding and lived human experience.

If This Resonates…

I would be honored to explore whether my approach is the right fit for you, your organization, or your community.
